The period between 1955 and 1963 is known as “Kitchen Sink Realism” or British New Wave. At this period a series of commercial films were made, mainly describing the life of the working class and some topics that previously were a taboo (homosexuality, abortion).
In the 1960-s British cinema experienced another boom. This was a period when the movies carried on breaking taboos, portraying sex and nudity on the screen.
